We know everyone doesn’t get in on the first try.  It can be stiff competition.  But if a student wants to attend NC State, we want them here.  Take heart knowing that 20% of NC State students have studied elsewhere.  So there’s more than one way into the Pack…

  • Call attention to a deserving student interested in CALS
  • Teachers, counselors, community members, and even students themselves can submit nominations
  • Enrollment isn’t guaranteed but helps identify worthy applicants

Alternative admissions routes

• STEAM – Spring Connection
  • Summer class at NC State & fall semester at community college
  • Deferred enrollment until the upcoming spring semester

• PackTrac Invitations
  • Start at a community college
  • Work with a CALS advisor
  • Guaranteed NC State admission into CSSC & 7 other departments

• Transfer students
  • Start at another university and transfer to NC State

• CALS Ag Institute 2 year associate’s degrees in CSSC programs
  • Turfgrass
  • Crop Production Technology
